Technique: Be a Better Cook - Hot Breads, Biscuits and Pancakes



Hot breads give an everyday family meal a special touch.  Try these for rave reviews

For an average-size loaf of bread (French or Italian, or any with a crisp crust), use 1 cup butter and add:

1. The juice and zest of 1 lemon

2. Broccoli crowns

3. Two tablespoons of any of these: celery seed, dried dill, chopped fresh parsley, poppy seed.

4. Five tablespoons sugar, 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon, a shake or two of ground nutmeg or mace.  Spread thickly on each slice, wrap in foil and heat thoroughly in oven.

5. Use your imagination and experiment with your favorite flavors.
